Without consulting the Montreal population affected by its decisions as required by the Aviation Industry Airspace Change Communications & Consultation Protocol of NAV Canada and the Canadian Airports Council, Aéroports de Montreal (ADM) has modified the aircraft assignment of the two main runways of Montreal-Trudeau airport this month to concentrate almost all large aircraft traffic on the 06G24D runway. The other runway will be assigned to propeller aircraft only.
What does that mean? That residents of Ahuntsic-Cartierville and Saint-Laurent in particular will be subjected to even more devastating aircraft noise, they who must already cope with considerable noise produced by aircraft taking off and landing at Montreal-Trudeau.

Although ADM plays down these changes by speaking of a temporary situation – until November – we fear that in the end, this situation will become permanent.
We were guaranteed a genuine curfew in Dorval in the late 1990s. Of course, this was a lie and an unparalleled deception to make us go back to Dorval. What is to say that ADM is not playing the same game today? We have no confidence in this private organization which is in charge of airport infrastructure that belongs to the entire population.

ADM has not even informed the majority of the population that is affected by this change. Further proof that the residents of neighbouring areas must sit on ADM’s Board of Directors and Advisory Council on the soundscape, which obviously does not fulfil its mandate.
